Just a glimpse

Well ladies, we have spent the day moving and decorating again so we thought you deserved a little peek at what we were up to this time!  Here is just a small glimpse into what you will see when you join us at the Christmas Extravaganza in Kindred tomorrow night from 5:00-8:00 and Saturday from 11:00-3:00. 


We will have Christmas decor, box signs, purses, perfect teacher gifts,  jewelry, scarves, hats, lamps and even a few fun furniture pieces.  It will be everything you need (and lots of things you just want) to finish up your Christmas shopping!
 

So make sure you leave a few minutes early when you go pick the kids up from practice.  We would love to see you all just one more time before Christmas.

One more before Christmas!

Well, we have another sale under our belts and we couldn't have asked for anything better!  You guys came out in numbers we never thought we would see.  Friday was crazy and the lines got a little long, but we think everyone got what they were looking for and had a good time doing it!

We did hear from quite a few people that weren't able to make it for some reason or another so we have decided to have one more quick sale.  This time we are going to be at the Kindred Christmas Extravaganza!

This is it folks

Today is the last day before our sale.  Which also means our favorite things for the week is over after today (sob sob).  I am really excited for everyone to come in and see the store because everything is new from last sale and truly everything is our favorite. 

Beth's favorite for Thursday is this adorable moss topiary tree.  It has neat texture and detail.  It would be great in one's home all year long.  I love how she put it in the plant stand with burlap.  It just adds life to an area. 

I on the other hand picked a simpler item.  This rake.  Yep that's right, a rake, well actually only part of a rake.  I just love the idea of taking something so ordinary and giving a totally different purpose.  I have been looking for old metal rakes and for the record they aren't the easiest thing to find.  Apparently people actually use them still.  Obviously I don't do lawn work or gardening but I do dabble in wine. So (with a sigh and smile as I gaze into space) I love this rake used as a wine glass holder.

So, our favorites for Wednesday...

Beth's fav is this adorable old sled with wreath on it.  This would be great by a front door or really anywhere in a home.  I secretly think Beth is wishing for tons of snow so she can go sledding.....
We have several old sleds and some old skis which would be a great addition to winter decor.  Once they're gone....they're gone.








My favorite is.....

These adorable Christmas pillows.  I really do love pillows because it's such an easy way to change up the house for seasons.  So, we have a couple different Christmas pillows which I know will fly out of the store so I may need to snatch some up!

So we got a huge shipment today of some really fun things so it was really hard to pick what to post as our favorites.  It is a really good thing we have a few more days or our post would be 10 pages long! So today's favorites are...

I chose something we already had only because I have grown a bit attached.  I can't guarantee these adorable deer will make it to opening Friday.  I may break down and adopt them.  They have a glowy, glittery sheen to them that make them majestic...LOVE!

Beth's favorite is a new item we received today.  I am pretty sure it was love at first sight.  When Beth opens boxes and she gasps I usually know it's gonna be good.  This clock got a really big gasp!  This mirror is really cool because it is metal and a great size and would go so many places!

My Favorite Things

Okay, so I realize I am no Oprah Winfrey. However, I did love Oprah's favorite things show and used to daydream of being on the show.  I truly miss her favorite things show....sad but true.  So in honor of Oprah, we are going to be posting a few of our favorite things in the store this week.  4 days is not enough to tell all of our favorite things, but it will give you a taste of what is behind our door waiting for you this Friday.

So, here goes...

My favorite thing today is this adorable ring. It is a stretchy band ring. I have always loved the look of pearls but love them with a modern twist.  It would be so fun with anything from jeans to a gorgeous black dress.  Heck, I would probably wear it with yoga pants, but only because that is what I wear most of the time.  It will retail at $10 at Livin' the Dream.  What an awesome gift!

Now, Beth's favorite.....

We have some adorable Christmas ornaments that it was hard to pick just one.  We have everything from ceiling tile ornaments to ice skates to giant snowflakes.  All of them are unique and fun and would make a great addition to your holiday decorating.

Christmas is coming to Livin' the Dream

Since the first flakes have started to fly we figured it was ok to break out the Christmas decorations at the store.  Things are shaping up nicely and we couldn't be more excited!    Here is a little look at what will greet you when you stop in next time.  Since we sold out of nearly everything last time, almost everything is new.  We have clocks, frames, pillows, cards, magnets, teacher gifts, plenty of furniture and Christmas items as well as lots of other unique finds. 

We also have many more of  the box signs that flew out the door last time.  They come in both Christmas and non-Christmas sayings.  My personal favorite this time around has got to be this one.  If the saying holds true, we are good moms with super happy kids.  After all, who has time to clean floors when there is furniture to paint!
We are off to market again this weekend and can't wait to see what new things we will find.   Enjoy the rest of your week and we hope to see you in December!

We're getting there!

Are we ready to do it again?  ABSOLUTELY!!  We have been collecting, sanding, painting, staining, moving, arranging and rearranging, but things are coming together nicely. We have most of our big pieces done and are starting to focus on the smaller details.



Here is an early peek at inside the store.  This is a dresser we have had in storage for quite a while. (We couldn't decide who was going to get to keep it, but couldn't possibly think about parting with it!) It is the most beautiful curved front piece with nearly perfect carvings on either side and a great scroll detail on the bottom.   We have decided that it isn't doing anyone any good sitting in storage so we finally brought it to the store.  We can't wait to see who will become the lucky owner...that is if one of us doesn't end up sneaking it back home!

Here is one more picture for you.  This dresser was one that I had my husband pick up for me out by the lakes.  When he got home and I finally got to see it in person I was a little disappointed.  It just didn't look like I thought it was going to so it sat in the garage for a little longer than either one of us would have liked, but I finally found my inspiration and it turned out great!  This baby got some new trim, wood accents and numerous coats of paint.  I did have to call my dad so he could guide me through turning on the saw, but after that it was smooth sailing.  The best news is, I still have all my fingers.  I am still on the hunt for perfect knobs, but it is truly shaping up!  I hope you like it as much as I do!

Work! Work! Work!

Well, you might have noticed our lack of posts lately, but it is because we have been so crazy getting ready for our next sale. OK, there may have also been a trip to St. Louis and a terrible case of the flu, but other than that we have been busy :o)

We never imagined that we would be so busy during the sale and we thought we could save a few things for the December Sale, but we were wrong.  So, our stash has been depleted.  Now we have been busy collecting, repairing, sanding and painting.  Our garages are full, our husbands may be less than thrilled and our hands are covered paint, but we couldn't be happier! 

Here are a few "before" pictures of things we will have at the December Sale. 

You may have seen this if you stopped in on Sunday, but it is going to look so much better once we get done with it!

WOW!

I think that is about all we can come up with right now!  Our grand opening has been more successful than we ever could have imagined.  If you saw the article in the Fargo Forum ( http://www.inforum.com/event/article/id/336824/publisher_ID/1/ ) we talked about the 2 fears we had.  The first being that we wouldn't sell a thing and the second that we would sell everything on the first day.  Well, it was definitely the second!  By mid-afternoon on Friday we were starting to panic because so much was gone.  So we called in reinforcements (our wonderful, strong & handsome husbands) and sent them to load the trailers with things we had ready for the December sale and stocked the store again and again and again! 

So, if you haven't had a chance to stop out OR if you were already in and want to see what's new, we are open for just one more day.  Tomorrow we will be open from 12-5.  After that you won't get to peek again until December 2nd!

We also wanted to let you know we are very interested in seeing where our treasures have made their home in your home.  So send us your pics of how you placed the furniture in your home and we just may feature your picture on our blog and have a few prizes to share!  2momslivinthedream@gmail.com

A few of my favorite things

We are about a week away and the store is looking great.  We have prices on everything and we are busy trying to get everything looking perfect for when you come in and visit us.  There are so many things I love in the store but one of my personal favorites are the signs we have.  They have the cutest sayings and some are quite funny too.  The Halloween sign below, "IT'S ALL ABOUT THE TREATS!" is so true! 

My personal favorite thing is a magnet (pictured on right) and only because it tickles my funny bone and I laugh every time I pass it.  When Beth and I were going through our inventory we were giggling like school girls.  I am giggling right now because I just can't help it!  Come visit us and share a laugh next weekend!

The Countdown begins...

Wow, is it really October already?  When we began this journey and set our first sale date for October 14 it seemed like it was so far away.  Now here we are!  Less than 2 weeks away and working on the finishing details.

I know I have said this before, but when the boxes come everyday it is like Christmas over and over and over again! 

Recently, we got one of the first things we ordered at market and we were so excited-PURSES!! They are the cutest handmade purses we had ever seen.  Cassie and I each have unique styles and you can tell by the different purses we picked out, but we know you are going to love them...that is if we don't decide to keep them in the mean time!

Don't worry, if these aren't your style we have plenty of others to pick from.  After all, a girl can't have too many purses!

That's it!

The contest is over!  The bright fabric on the left is the winner.  Tonight we will draw names and see which one of you was the lucky winner of the $50.00 gift certificate to our October Sale. 

We have been working hard getting the finishing details done and things are really starting to come together.  The drawer pulls are being put on, the boxes are being unpacked and the furniture is being arranged, rearranged, then put back to their original positions again! I am sure we will only do this several dozen more times before we open!

Needless to say, by the time we head to bed in the evening we are worn out!  We got this little pillow the other day that says it all.  We are truly reaching for the sky and "Livin' the Dream"!

It's getting closer!!

Can you believe that we are just a month away from our first sale?  When Cassie and I first started talking about making our dream a reality we knew it was going to be exciting, scary, challenging and rewarding all at the same time.  Thus far, we have yet to be disappointed!  The one thing we did not realize was how much caffeine it would take to keep us moving.  Cassie found a great treasure to keep our stock in Diet Coke cold (can't wait to show you in person)  and we also stumbled upon these little cuties.

I don't think I became a coffee drinker because of these, but it sure doesn't hurt to have a great cup that makes you chuckle in the morning!

Garage is a Mess

So somebody asked me where I work on our "stuff."  Well I wanted to share my humble "workshop"/garage/toy storage.  If I ever wondered if Jim loves me I now know he does because when we built our house I assured him the garage was his very own space and now I have claimed it as my own.  Love you honey!  (What's mine is mine, What's his is mine)
 

 The garage isn't much to see as most things still need a ton of work.  Gotta love the pack n play amidst the mess of furniture!
I want to share with you a few "works in progress"....a beach table which I love (it may be a desk?)  and a sign that I just started working on, need to paint and add hooks but it is gonna be cute.

Back 2 School!

I can't believe today is the first day of school!  Summer went way too fast and I think we would all take a few more weeks of vacation, but since we didn't get to decide the first day of school we at least had a blast getting ready!  Every year I take a picture of my school aged kids right before they get on the bus.  I love looking back and seeing how much they have grown!  This year was a little bitter sweet for me.  My baby got on the bus for the first time and waved goodbye to me like he had done it a million times before.  I was one proud momma, but a little weepy and sad on the inside!  So, in honor of my "big" kids I had to wear this today!

The kids all had a great first day and couldn't wait to share all the details-who they sat by, what they had for lunch and the games they played at recess.  Thankfully the teachers were in a sharing mood and shared the homework assignments with the kids.  Now it is time to get that homework done and back in the backpacks.  Maybe one of you lucky readers will be able to snag this adorable little desk to help your little ones with their homework too!

Put your hats and boots on!

This is a phrase I say over and over (and over) again to my 4 boys. Now it is a phrase I can't wait for someone to tell me!!

We have these adorable cadet hats that are great for the Friday night football games, heading to the grocery store or just wearing around your house! The best part about these hats is the personalized pendants. I happen to be a Bison fan, but you can order one with your school name, your child’s name and sports number or just about anything else you can come up with!

Then you have got to check out these cuties! I have to say, I wasn't sure what to think when Cassie first told me about rain boots that looked like cowboy boots, but once I put them on my feet I didn't want to take them off! Cassie liked them so much she ditched her heals and wore her black polka dot boots with her little black dress at market! It was adorable and I was sooo jealous! We have them in black with a couple different designs, but can get them for you in your favorite team colors too!!

Sneak Peek

For the past few months we have been searching, hauling, collecting, cleaning, painting, staining and anything else you can imagine! We have brought things home that some (specifically our husbands) might call us crazy for, but when you have an idea you just have to run with it.

Here is just one little piece we have been working on. We can't wait for you to see the finished project!!!

This would be great to set beside your bed to hold you lamp, alarm clock, cell phone and the other much needed items or tucked in the kids room piled with books and toys. The only limit is your imagination.

We are getting tons of furniture ready and the boxes have started arriving. We can't wait to show you all of our treasures. See you October 14^th!

Jewelry Shopping

A sneak peak at one of the fabulous new necklaces we will feature in our store.  Joy made this special for me....(ha ha, Beth and I have been fighting over it but it's at my house now so I suppose that means it's mine.) Joy does the best job doing this stamped jewelry.  We will have a variety of cute sayings, sizes, and designs.  We will also have rings and hats.  I also love that we will be able to custom order gifts for moms such as a stamped necklace with kids' names, sports teams, etc.  So if you have a football player you can have their school name and number.  For example....Kindred Vikings, Jack, 45 all in concentric circles.  (Can you believe it is football season?  Holy smokies summer flew by!)

So Dan Cute

So along with all of the awesome furniture and new home decor items and cute purses and gifts we are also going to be featuring these adorable little baby onesies and tank tops (we might need to do long sleeved soon....boo).  They make marvelous baby shower gifts because they are just "so dan cute" as my Olivia would say.  (Kids really do say some funny stuff, when Anders was a baby Liv would say, "Mom, isn't he just so dan cute?" I blame Grandma Jane for teaching her that!) Anyhoo, yes the onesies.  So they're cute and you should come by and grab some for all those babies comin into the world.  If you absolutely can't wait until October 14th then send me a message and we can do a custom order because we are just so accomodating.  By the way, this crib is going to be in the first sale.  So...if you know a photographer who needs an adorable prop, need a place to store all those baby dolls, pillows, blakets, etc this crib is also So Dan Cute.

LEARNING TO LOAD A TRAILER

SO......The learning curve has been huge.  One thing I have learned is how to back up a trailer, yes ladies and gentlemen, it's true!  (Good thing too because that was one thing on my 40 before 40 list that I can cross off.)  We are still learning how to load a trailer without getting stuck behind furniture hence the pic of Beth climbing over a very adorable buffet table.  (I know Beth loves that when she is stuck in the trailer I don't help but instead run for my camera!)

We spent the day bringing stuff into the store to finish!  We have such awesome stuff we just can't wait for you to see it.  I guess this sneak peak of the top of our cute buffet will have to do for now.  I have to say even loading the trailer has been fun!  Join us for many laughs starting October 15th at 901 Center Ave.  Stay tuned for more pics of our beautiful finds!

2 Moms Livin the Dream

2 Moms with 7 kids, 2 husbands (one each, we don't share), 2 dogs and 1 fabulously exciting new store.  We are definitely livin' the dream.  Beth and I have known each other for about 4 years and have always talked of how fun it would be to open a store and own our own business.  Our dream will be reality this year on October 15th when Livin' the Dream opens at 901 Center Ave in Moorhead.  Livin' the Dream will feature repurposed furniture (awesome furniture!!!), gift items and home decor.  The store is a mix of old and new.  Shabby chic, funky junk, french inspired, cottage, lake, jewelery, purses, pillows, lamps, antiques, cards, signs and so much more. 
The uniqueness of this endeavor is that we will be an occassional sale store.  We will be opening 4 weekends only.  (stay tuned for dates) With 7 kids and 2 husbands and 2 dogs we need to have our family first.  Come and visit us for all 4 sales, each one filled with new and exciting items and decor.
